Historical Meeting of the Casselman Historians
When and Where: September 15-16, 2023 at the Maple Glen Mennonite Church, Grantsville, MD
Friday: Business Meeting at 6:30 p.m.; Topical Program at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: Topical Program continues 9:00 -11:30 a.m., followed by lunch in the basement.
Subject focus: The Amish Mennonite experience in the Casselman Valley 1850 -1875. This period of church history includes the period of the Civil War. A question included in the topic: How did the Amish respond to the Civil War?
The topics:
- Population statistics and immigration to the area and emigration from the area ― James L. Yoder
- Amish Life in the Casselman Valley 1850 – 1875 ― Ruth Miller Yoder
- Amish Mennonite Church Life ― David I. Miller
- Biographical Sketches of Bishop Jonas Beachy and Bishop Joel Beachy
- Amish Church Life in the Casselman Valley, 1850-1875
This is a public meeting. All are welcome.
Can this be recorded and then broadcast on Facebook or YouTube? Or perhaps even be sold on CD?
